Material Instances: First part of this tutorial video just shows me what things to focus for the Rock Material. This is just to make a different material from an existing material This picture shows how the rook material will look like first then I will add another picture for the end result. On the Right this is just the Create Material Instance. Not Final Rock Material Final Rock Material  *Compared to the Tutorial Version is looks different, but this is close enough.* Lighting Basics: (Video For Each One) Directional Light: Infinite Light where ever the light is pointing. The light is not affected if its just moved around or scaled, but can be affected if rotated. Point Light: With Point light the Scale is more important (Determines the size of the point light), but the translate will also affect the light. Rotate doesn't do much. Spot Light: Scale, Rotate, and Translate will affect this light. Not as Bright but there are options to change it. (In ...

Assembling the scene: In this part of the tutorial all I had to do was try to assemble the scene. Being able to place models, props, buildings, and more on the landscape. Below is just a picture of placing some of the objects on the landscape. That was pretty much it for this tutorial. Look Development: Materials Introduction to Materials: This part is just a quick introduction to Materials in Unreal Engine. The tutorial tells us what  Material Editor does and how it has a similar idea as Maya a 3D modeling~ program. Material properties: For Material Properties its the same concept ( what the tutorial is talking about ) All the tutorial said to do is create a new material node. There are a lot of different ones that can be made and some are more advanced, but I have to start with a basic material. I drew on the picture just for fun but its also informative. Material Editor: Lantern In the first four minutes of the tutorial it wanted us to open the Lamp mater...

Exporting Blocked Levels  First I selected all the Geometry I needed and created a folder for it then I went into the Static Mesh box and created a Static Mesh ans lastly I named it LH_References as told by the tutorial. I saved it so that way I can Import or Export a file.  Content Creation: External applications ( An intro/overview ) Nothing being done here. Importing Final Assets for Unreal The video shows that the mesh folder I made is imported into Maya. Since the person who made the tutorial video he is placing each of his models into the places where the mesh were. Then after exporting it from Maya it can be brought back to Unreal the same way. Here I assigned a material to the landscape. *Note others had problems with the Landscape material that's why it looks like this instead of this. (1st Picture Vs. 2nd Picture) I am assigning Layers here because I can not paint them in until they have been assigned. After I did this it actually changed my landscape to normal as in 2nd picture above. Here I applied the 4 different paint materials I have available. The Rock, Mud, Grass, and wet materials were used in this landscape. Level Design: Blocking Overview of geometry brushes- Just an overview. There isn't anything i'm doing in this part. Geometry Brushes: Benefits - Rapidly blocking out levels - Addressing scale issues - Play testing a level concept - Filling gaps between game assets Geometry Brushes: Caveats - Can get expensive if overused - Linear and flat edged (non organic) - Limited model and texture capability Geometry Brush Tour Basic Actors and Geometry are not th...

Level Design: Creating Base Landscapes Landscape tool modes: All the tools are located on the top left of the screen. The landscape box has to be selected in order to see all the tools that are there. The next Tutorial video will show how to create a base landscape. ( Shift + 3 ) is a hotkey to get to the landscape tool Creating base landscapes: I created a simple landscape and started applying the Sculpt, Smooth, Flatten, and Noise tool (Picture Above and the Landscape tool on the top left) Editing Landscape: Here I used the same tools and made it more detailed. Also in the end of the video we cut off parts of the landscape because that are will just be filled in with water.

Placing and manipulating actors Goes through the basics of placing an manipulating actor ( Picture below of placing a simple cube in the  work space On the bottom I can load up different maps that are available to me. This part of the tutorial it also goes over the translate navigator and hotkeys ( W for Navigator, E for Rotation, and R for Scale )   There are different was to Navigate, Rotate, and Scale an actor. There is also an option in the right side where transform is and there I can do all 3 things. Also if I right click in the work space I can "Place Actor" as well. Advanced manipulation techniques Another hotkey that is shown in this tutorial video allows me to place an actor ( object ) on the main floor. The hotkey is "End" and it also lets me place an object over another without clipping                ( intersecting) through it. ( It snaps in place ) Picture below. On the work space there is a too...

Unreal Essential Training (2016) Tutorial: Understanding The Unreal 4 Interface (UI) Part 1

Before using the Unreal Engine Launcher the Epic Games Launcher has to be downloaded and will also require and account. In The Epic Games Launcher I can access many things such as the community page to see what's new and also looking for help/forums, marketplace to purchase or post content for others to use, library to view all items downloaded or to launch the Unreal Engine, Purchase games, and more.  Intro to the User Interface I could not open the file on my Laptop, but this part of the tutorial only talked about the Intro to the User Interface I will post pictures soon The whole 1st part and 2nd are just what each thing is.
